EU-Norway agreement on shared fish stocks

The European Union and Norway have set up a new agreement over shared management responsibilities of fish stocks in the North Sea, Skagerrak, and Kattegat.  The agreement will allow greater reciprocal fishing possibilities for each party in the other’s waters.  It will also ban discards, set a total allowable catch, define quotas for shared stocks, and harmonize technical measures in the Skagerrak.  The agreement was reached at the end of a week of negotiations.
