The outcomes of GAP2 will impact upon both the scientific evidence and the decision making processes. The participatory processes may influence the way decisions are made, whilst scientific evidence gleaned from joint research activities will contribute to the formulation of management plans. The work goes hand-in-hand with the Europe-wide move towards long-term fisheries strategies based on a more equally shared system of governance, in which management decisions and their consequences are implemented and experienced at regional levels.
