Abstract of deliverable D2.1:

“The aim of the FP7 Project ‘Bridging the gap between science, stakeholders and policy makers Phase 2 – Integration of evidence-based knowledge and its application to science and management of fisheries an the marine environment (GAP2)‘ is to promote and enable processes for open and effective participation of stakeholders in research and management. Stakeholder participation is building on mutual learning as a basic principle of trans disciplinarily that incorporates processes, methodologies, knowledge and goals of stakeholders from science, industry and politics. Developed by the GAP2 project the ‘step-by-step approach toward collaboration’ is based on understanding the other side’s thinking, focusing on shared interests, looking for solutions to common problems, and where appropriate, utilizing technical approaches, such as Geographic Information Systems. The spectrum of mutual learning experiences arising from different social, cultural and ecological environment of the 13 GAP2 case studies is presented here.
