Bridging the Gap

This month, we bring news from two international GAP2 exchanges, with updates on seabird by-catch mitigation from California, and sustainable angling in Canada. We also share a great piece on participatory research by GAP2 Coordinator Steven Mackinson published in the most recent ICES Insight Magazine, and the publication of a new report on the UK-France Channel scallop fishery.

Roadmap for Channel Collaboration published by GAP2

In April this year, GAP2 ran a pioneering, two-day collaborative workshop in Brixham, Devon. The workshop, based around the issue of long-term profitability and sustainability in the valuable Channel scallop fishery, brought together fishers from both sides of these rich waters, with representatives from across the UK and France. To lay the foundation for this on-going work-stream, we are now pleased to publish the official report from the Brixham workshop, outlining successes, challenges, and next steps.
