GAP2’s Social Science Workshop: Theoretical approaches to research on Local Ecological Knowledge (LEK)

A presentation given by Dr. Maiken Bjørkan at the beginning of GAP2’s social science workshop during February, 2013 in Chioggia, Venice, Italy.

Originally presented at the University of Tromsø, Norway in November 2012, the presentation explains how Traditional/Fishermens/Local Ecological Knowledge (LEK) is described in scientific literature, how it differs from “traditional” science, it’s importance and how incorporation of LEK into scientific studies can be empowering.
