GAP2 began their involvement with French & UK stakeholders in the Channel scallop fishery in April, 2014. The aim was to promote collaboration between different stakeholders allowing for a long-term management plan for the fishery to be put in place. Since the initial workshop in Brixham Devon, GAP2 has published a roadmap report on points of discussion and future plans for its sustainable management.

Provisional Agenda and Invitation

A copy of the agenda and a preview of the invitation can also be found below.

Information on Normandy Workshop

The GAP2 scallop project team are delighted to announce a follow up workshop to the highly successful Brixham event, which brought together French and UK stakeholders from the Channel scallop fishery. The event will be held in Port en Bessin, Normandy, France, on the 11th and 12th of February 2015 .

The workshop will provide fishermen and stakeholders with an opportunity to engage in discussion and critical thinking about the future management of the scallop fishery through an interactive, stakeholder-led event.

We will continue to focus on the evolution of a management system that integrates better science and encourages participatory approaches with stakeholders to achieve sustainable and profitable fisheries.

A critical component of the workshop is to learn how industry dependent data can better inform the scientific understanding of the fishery and lead to more sustainable and informed management.

A copy of the draft version of the workshop outline is here for your information.

Invitations for the event will be circulated shortly – if you would like to attend, or if you have any questions about the event or the agenda,  please contact Giles Bartlett, WWF UK (gbartlett@wwf.org.uk).
