Mediterranean RAC discuss regionalisation of the CFP

Marseille, 19th April. Facilitated by GAP2 partners, RACMED were keen to explore what regionalisation of the Common Fisheries Policy might look like in the Mediterranean region. Working toward developing an opinion paper for submission to the European Commission, the RACMED think that a regionalised approach in the Mediterranean could work if the right kind of model and consensus is found that involves all the Member States. The RACMED would like to see

· All Member States of the Mediterranean area represented on the RACMED

· Increased representation on the RACMED from different sectors i.e. unions, scientists and researchers

· A stronger relationship with the GFCM (General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean)
